Good Morning!
I am impressed with what you have posted. The only thing that I have a question about is the suprasystem. I am thinking that it might be companies that are sending business people to China.
You might want to check that or am I thinking way out of the box?
I know there was a caution in class concerning this. Can you help me?
Hi George,
My logic is as follows:
I have a company, or work for a business that provides a service. The service is preparing business people to work in and/or do business in other countries.
If I extrapolate from last class' exercise using the IDDE program as the system, and School of Education as the environment (this means "suprasystem", yes??), then MY environment could be a business that prepares executives to work overseas.
But I don't see your suggestion as being the suprasystem. Maybe the context?
What do I know, this way of classifying things is still clear as mud to me.
Cheers,
Stacey
So, does this mean the suprasystem is a company whose business it is to prepare businessmen to work overseas? Sort of like a finishing school? In that case, information channels might be the sales/marketing folks who are sending the business men to you, no? Perhaps the companies with whom these businessmen work will be providing you with feedback to guide your success, right?
Can you explain further how roleplays and projects are subsystem interfaces within your system?
Yes, the suprasystem would be the company that provides this training. The system would be the training, with subsystems in Language, Etiquette, History, Politics, the Economy, plus some topic that is student specific.
So would Information Channels be the tools or methods used to communicate between the suprasystem and the outside world? If so, then student refers, my own sales and marketing people, articles about the business, advertising, client feedback surveys and posting.
Then Subsystem Interface would be how members of one subsystem communicate with members of other subsystems. So in my case, it would be how the students and instructors of the Language Subsystem could communicate with those of the Etiquette Subsystem, right? There could be on-line discussion boards, social gatherings to meet other students and to converse in Chinese. For the instructors there would be progress review meetings about individual students, staff meetings, instructor only discussion boards.
